Solar ATAP applications, SEDA quotas, and TNB tariff structures change over time. The earlier your system is commissioned, the sooner — and longer — you lock in today's offset terms.
How It Works
From consultation to
commissioning, in five steps.
Regulatory Scheme
Solar ATAP & SELCO, side by side.
Most installers won't walk you through this. We think you should know exactly what scheme your system runs under, and why.
| Feature | Solar ATAP | SELCO |
|---|---|---|
| Export credit | Yes — capped by MAQ (inverter kWac × 5 sun-hours × days) | None — 100% of non-self-consumed generation is unused |
| Single-phase cap | 5 kWac | 5 kWac |
| Three-phase cap | 15 kWac | 12.5 kWac |
| Contract | 10-year, non-extendable | None |
| Application | SEDA eATAP, RM7.50/kW fee | Form of Information to TNB, no fee |
| Meter | Bi-directional TNB meter swap, 2–6 weeks | No meter swap required |
Why this matters: Solar ATAP suits most homes and businesses that export surplus generation back to the grid. SELCO is worth considering only when paired with a battery large enough to use most of your own excess generation directly. We help you choose the right scheme during consultation — not after signing.
RM230–260
Modelled monthly saving for a 6 kWp system on a ~1,200 kWh household, under the RP4 tariff and Solar ATAP export terms.
RM 33,500
Cumulative 10-year saving for the same household, allowing 0.5%/yr panel degradation and 3%/yr tariff escalation.
Up to 80%
Best-case bill reduction, on a smaller household where solar plus storage covers most of the load. Larger bills offset a smaller share. Fixed charges cannot be removed by generation.
